A GAELIC NOVEL inspired them, a knowledge of industrial technology gave them a unique perspective, and a desire to earn a living through creative endeavor sustains them.
Gary and Linda Davis are weavers. Using a blend of skills from former occupations, and incorporating
discoveries made while investigating various handicraft art forms, these two very creative people have developed their own weaving style—right down to designing and building their own looms.
What they do is perfection. A perfection they are glad to share with others. Gary, especially, is a natural-born teacher. Although show demonstrations got Gary started, today his greatest pleasure comes from showing others how to weave.
And Silverton is the perfect place for them both and for their art. “Here, people walk by, look in the window, come in to see what we’re doing,” Linda said. “They don’t have to drive, park, hunt us down.” “We get a lot of people coming back again and again.”
A visit may inspire you to take up weaving, too. Click HERE for the rest of this story.
